Cemmaes Road Closure Application – Press Communications

The aim of Dyfi Valley Health is to provide and maintain quality local primary care services to the public at both surgeries – Machynlleth Health Centre and Cemmaes Road Surgery.

However, in the last year, a number of unforeseeable and unsustainable challenges have led to unplanned changes to The Practice as a whole. These challenges have resulted in reducing the opening hours and services of the Cemmaes Road branch of Dyfi Valley Health.

To maintain high levels of patient care, and to prevent the complete long-term collapse of the area’s local primary care services, Dyfi Valley Health has regrettably submitted an application to close the Cemmaes Road Surgery.  If the application to Powys Health Board is successful, Machynlleth Health Centre will consolidate these services thus ensuring that local primary care services are both improved and protected for the future.

In February, the Health Board will write to all patients registered with the practice, as well as to a wide range of local stakeholders, to describe the challenges being faced by Dyfi Valley Health, to outline options for the future, and to seek views.

We also aim to share regular updates over the coming weeks from the Powys Teaching Health Board Engagement Team (powys.engagement@wales.nhs.uk).
