Behind every unused prescription is NHS funding that can never be recovered.
Every week we receive a large return of unused medication. Due to national guidance, this medication is destroyed as, as soon they leave dispensary, we can’t guarantee their safety.
Medication waste costs the NHS (or each one of us) £300 million every year, money that could fund nurses, treatments, hospitals and vital services.
The solution is easy: order only what you need and speak up if any treatment changes.
Your medications will NOT be taken from your repeat list if they haven’t been ordered routinely.
The dispensary and the practice pharmacist will be available if any help is needed.
Reducing waste protects patients, improves safety and safeguards NHS resources, that ultimately comes from everyone’s pockets.
